After experiencing this phenomenon for years\, I began to lean in to the aspects of the sport that contributed to its meditative quality. In doing so\, I found that elevated awareness and conscious focus on a few specific areas greatly enhanced that otherworldly experience. But that’s not all. It turns out the same practices that lead to relaxation and calm also make you a better fly angler. \nIn a world obsessed with shortcuts to performance—10 tips for this\, 5 hacks for that\, or the ONE secret that will unlock that yet-unrealized level of success—fly fishing beckons us to slow down and take the scenic route.
